House 2: The Second Story (1987)
If the first "House" film could be considered horror lite, than this 1987 sequel would be an ultra-lite. Having nothing to do with the first film, "House 2", like the video box states, is an "all new house with brand new owners". While the first film was a pretty glossy and mainstream flick, it still possessed a couple scenes that were a tad creepy and actually entertaining to watch. This sequel though, is pretty much all over the place, never making sense, never creepy, and well, just not very entertaining. Besides the shoddy story, the special effects by Chris Wallas were pretty lame. You know that dreadful "awwww, isnt he cute?" phrase a teenage girl makes when she sees a baby or a puppy? Well, that's what I hear everytime I see one of the creatures in this flick. To be fair though, I don't think "House 2" was ever made with the intent of scaring people, as it plays pretty much like a fantasy film than a scare film. About the only plus with this movie, as well as with the first House, is that you could sit down and watch this one with a young monster fan, since it is never graphic in any way. Truth be told, I think the only way this flick could be enjoyable to anyone is if the viewer posseses a seven year old intellect!
