Predator 2 (1989)

Director: Stephen Hopkins

This time downtown L.A. is the hunting ground of choice for our title creature, and though it's not as much fun as the first one, "Predator 2" was a decent waste of an hour and a half. Danny Glover stars as a police type trying to deal with the recent gang wars between various drug lords throughout the city. Someone has been offing various members of the gangs and Glover is a little perplexed as to who the "new player" in town is. This one was pretty damn bloody, and all the scenes of the Predator are tons of fun. He brought his whole arsenal with him this time, including a nasty spear type weapon, a razor sharp Frisbee, and several other niceties. The problem though, is when the predator is off screen you don't give a shit about the characters involved, especially Glover. Poor choice to replace Arnold, I'll say. There is lots of action at the end though, and I will say Glover's fight scene with the creature was almost as good as Arnold's from the first one. Almost...but not quite. All in all I'd say it's worth a rental, now let's get Arnold back for part three.
