The Fly (1986)

Director: David Cronenberg

Ok remake by David Cronenberg. I have not seen to much of Cronenberg's films so I really have nothing to compare this one to in terms of his directing style, etc. The story was ok, sort of a romance/monster film. Seth Brundles transformation into a fly was really pretty cool to watch, as he loses fingernails, teeth, pukes on his food, etc. Not to mention that flys must be really horny, cause in this film it kicks old Seth's sex drive into overdrive! Hmm....that gives me an idea, maybe I can sell fly juice as a sexual enhancer or something? Loved the way Brundlefly twitches as he talks, with his eyeballs darting back and forth etc. Several scenes were sort of hokey, such as when Brundlefly nabs Geena Davis from the abortion clinic, but perhaps I'm being a little picky. All in a good watch, good gooey effects, and Geena Davis giving birth to a living maggot....good enough for me.
