Cube 2: Hypercube (2002)

Director: Andrzej Sekula

Lackluster follow up to the original “Cube” has more hapless schmucks stuck in yet another murderous Rubik’s cube, though instead of nifty booby traps and a solvable concept, this cube confuses with a parabola of alternate realities and more mathematical equations than you can shake your protractor at. As with the first film, not every character is who they seem, as everyone has some type of tie to a company called “IZON”, presumably the company responsible for the cube’s creation. There’s a resourceful heroine type, several nerdy computer guys, a young blind girl, and, of course, the potential murderer type. You also get wooden acting, chintzy CGI effects and one doozy of a confusing story line. It’s sorta like the first “Cube” but just, well, not as good.
