Terrific update on the old black and white classic. Meteor falls to earth, gooey slimy stuff comes out of it, gooey slimy stuff goes on mission to ingest as many hapless schmucks as it can. That's about the whole plot. The special effects were great, almost as good as the stuff in Carpenter's remake of "The Thing". Until this film I had never seen a grown man sucked down a kitchen drain before. Awesome. The blob also is quick as shit and can reach out at you with long ass blob tentacles to pull ya nice and close. Another thing I liked about this one was that the teen characters were actually likable for a change. I actually found myself rooting for them to get out of the blob's way instead of the other way around. That's pretty damn rare friends. The film got a little bogged down in the middle with the whole secret government project stuff, but not to bad to ruin things. Good acting and likeable characters, terrific f/x, a man getting sucked down a kitchen drain....what more could one want?
