The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
That title has to be one of the best, if not the best ever, used for a motion picture. Just saying that out loud has an ominous feel to it, you know? Without a doubt this one is right up there in the horror top ten, and for good reason. Essentially a simple tale of what happens when a group of 5 young kids stumble across a family of inbred degenerates who have a taste for headcheese and human flesh. Very intense film, though nowhere near as bloody as everyone likes to make it out to be. Saw this one at a very young (and impressionable) age of 9, and I was certain that I was watching a sort of documentary due to the grainy 16mm film that was used. After all, the narrative at the beginning said it was a true story right? Always loved the set design used for this one, with bones, feathers, and other assorted goodies strewn all over the creepy farmhouse the chainsaw clan calls home. Personal favorite scene, besides the dinner scene of course, occurs right after Leatherface clubs his first victim, then slams that big steel door shut. That right there pretty much sets the tone for what is to come. One direction I always wished the story would have went, is for it to have gone into a bit more detail on the background of the family, in terms of how the characters became what the are, etc. Definetly a four star horror classic. Any bitch hogs that disagree can shut their mouths!
