Psycho's In Love (1987)
Hey, who would have thought it possible? An ultra-low budget “horror comedy” that actually, well, was funny. Imagine that. Two serial killers, Joe and Kate, share two rare traits that they never thought they would find in any other human being. One being that they both love murdering members of the opposite sex, and two, they both really, really hate grapes. Yes, grapes. Purple grapes, red grapes, grapes with seeds and grapes without, they truly hate grapes. Get the point? So, sharing the same passions in life it was only natural then that the two should come together as lovers. Watching this it is amazing to see that with a concept that could easily have gone horribly wrong, here it actually works and the viewer truly becomes interested in the oddball couple and what will happen to them next. Of course, it doesn’t hurt for the male viewer that Kate is one foxy serial killer, while the ladies get Joe who resembles a cross between Joe Spinell and Ron Jeremy. I guess if you’re a female psycho, you really can’t be partial to appearances when looking for a like-minded mate. If only I could meet a girl like her. Sigh. Anyway, sure the budget is non-existent and not all of the jokes really come off, but still it’s a fun watch. Recommended if you ever stumble across a copy, and if you are ever in the New York area, be sure to catch the play version...honest.
