Pieces (1981)

Oh, the hilarity of it all. Seems a Boston college has a bit of a dilemma on its hands. Some nutcase is brutally (as opposed to delicately?) chain sawing the local coed population and sewing them together to create, in the killer's mind, the perfect woman. If the killer sees a chick with nice legs, bzzzz, off with the legs. Nice pair of boobs? Bzzzzz...bye bye boobies. You get the idea I'm sure. Is it a member of the faculty or perhaps one the students that's performing the dastardly deeds? The always reliable Christopher George, playing a detective type is on the case and while he attempts to catch the killer, we're treated to some piss awful acting, some real bad synthesizer music, boobs aplenty, and tons of cheesy, tasteless gore. Sounds like my sorta flick!

Well, not actually. I was entertained at certain points; to that there is no doubt. Some simply god-awful dialogue runs rampant through this one, providing many a laugh. My favorite being the part where the undercover cop chick, after witnessing yet another hacked up victims remains, screams to the unseen killer, "Bastard!" three excruciatingly overacted times...you have to see it to believe it. My favorite character was that big fat janitor who delivers one hell of an evil eye in attempting to look mean. Again, you have to see it to understand. Besides the unintentional laughs, the blood and nudity is very plentiful in this one. All the victims in this one seem to appear without their tops before getting chain sawed, I guess its a necessity. The killer is able to sneak around on campus fairly easy, even though he's dressed in a black raincoat and hat that just screams "psycho killer here!", all the while carrying a big yellow chainsaw around. The killer even hides the chainsaw behind his back (!) as he attempts to off one victim in an elevator...sneaky, sneaky. I will say the shock ending was a bit of a nice touch, I really did not see that one coming and I doubt you will either. If you like your slasher films dumb and sleazy, filled with cheap gore and naked chicks than "Pieces" will entertain. All others beware, and if you are part of those others, what the hell are you doing on this website?
