Maniac Cop 2 (1988)

Well, if you enjoyed the first film in this series you will more than likely enjoy this one. The maniac cop himself, Matt Cordell, is back on the beat offing decent citizens left and right. In this one he teams up with a serial killer (for some reason beyond me) that looks like a fat Tom Savini. Cordell is still out for the revenge that evaded him in the first one, in which he is trying to get even with the crooked city commissioner and the gang at City Hall. Plenty of terrific car chase scenes, blood squibs, slashings, neck snappings and the usual maniac cop behavior follows. Nothing much is explained in the way of how Cordell can come back from the grave time after time, but that's ok. No one really expects such explanations anyway, do we? Good, clean, fun from director William Lustig.
