Cujo (1983)
After watching Cujo you realize how bad it would suck to be stuck in a 105 degree car with a rabid, drooling, pissed as all hell, St. Bernard lurking outside. I agree with most other genre fans that Cujo is the best screen adaptation of a Stephen King novel. While not containing everything from the book, the overall feel and vibe of the novel is still there. Good acting from everyone involved, even the kid actor wasn't to annoying this time around. Something interesting I read in another review of this movie dealt with the Dee Wallace character. It stated that since she is having an affair and thus being untrue to her husband, she is in a sense being "punished" for her unfaithful ways. Maybe, maybe not, but interesting nonetheless. The dog that played Cujo deserves huge props, and the special effects are seamless throughout. Has a definite claustrophobic feel to it that really gets to ya after awhile. Just watching Dee and son dehydrate in that car made me want to go into the kitchen and chug a gallon of Coors. Cujo is a definite must view whether you have read the book or not. Woof-woof!
