Salem's Lot (1979)
Through the years, I have watched bits and pieces of Salem's Lot when it would occasionally run on television, typically around Halloween. Recently, I ran across a copy of the three-hour, full length version in my local video store and decided to finally sit and watch the damn thing all the way through. And boy, what a challenge that was. "Salem's Lot", a simple tale of vampires taking over a small town, was such a long and extremely boring affair, I dozed off in several places. Nothing much really happens at all. Characters are introduced then never discussed again, leaving the viewer to wonder why the hell they were shown in the first place. The Nosferatu looking vampire (played by genre vet Reggie Nalder) was pretty creepy looking, yet was not really used to any full potential. Most laughable scene had to be the vampire kids on wires bit, in which several young vampires are scene scratching at their friends bedroom windows to let em' in. Simply godawful stuff. Salem's Lot is to long, to slow, and just plain.....boring.
