The Kindred (1986)

Nothing to special, yet nothing to horrible either. A woman scientist who was working on a genetic hybrid of marine life spliced with her own son's genes, creates what she calls Anthony, a tentacled, slimy ass monster which resides in the basement of her home. As she is on her deathbed, she orders her son, who is a scientist as well, to go and end the experiment before it's to late. I appreciated the fact that there were no annoying teenage actors in this one, and the acting was actually pretty competent by the adult cast. However, things just seemed a little to talky and slow for my tastes. The creature f/x was ok, but nothing to spectacular, just your usual rubbery creature with long tentacles, which are just perfect for grabbing hold of stupid scientist types by the way. The ending was pretty gooey and messy, and look for the scene where the one chick turns into a fish-woman or something. That was sort of interesting, I suppose. All in all not bad, but don't go out of your way to see it either.
