From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
Goddamn I really enjoyed this movie. Starts out as a straight up action flick and then takes a 360 degree turn into a major league monster fest. The story begins as we see a pair of bank robbers, the infamous "Gecko Brothers", robbing a liquor store and kidnapping a family of three as they make for the U.S./Mexican border. Once across, they have an appointment to meet up with some fellow hoods at a nice establishment called the "Titty Twister". Not only does this sound like the kind of place where you can find your Rabid host sipping on a cold Coors and enjoying the sights, you'll also find none other than B-movie legend Fred Williamson and f/x pro Tom Savini hanging out as well, as both get really cool roles in this flick. Once everyone is inside the joint, all hell (literally) breaks out as everyone inside turns out to be vampires instead of hip shaking, boob bouncing strippers. Sides are drawn as the Geckos (actually one Gecko, you'll see why) and their hostage family join with Fred and Tom to fight it out with these unholy bloodsucking fiends. Lots of blood and guts hit the screen courtesy of the boys at KNB who always deliver the goods when it comes to horror f/x. We get loads of ugly vamps, and even Tom Savini turned into a giant, demonic rat creature. But the award for the scariest, ugliest fucking thing in this flick has to go to the close-ups of Juliette Lewis's damn feet! God those things were ugly! To all filmmakers out there never, and I mean never, insert a close up of someones bare feet. To all you foot fetish types...get help! You are all fucking sick in the head! Jeez, I got off track a bit there huh? Anyway, besides the feet close-ups, this whole movie rocks pretty damn hard and never has a dull moment of any sort. Highly recommended and "Horror Apocalypse" approved.
