Children of the Full Moon (1980)

Director: Tom Clegg

Here’s an obscure little short that was originally made (I think) for the British anthology series “Hammer House of Horror” back in the early eighties. A vacationing couple’s car goes out of control on an isolated road, forcing them to spend the night in a bizarre mansion deep in the woods. To their surprise the only residents seem to be a bizarre woman who is nanny to eight young children, all of whom are peculiar to say the least. While fetching the bags from the car, the man is attacked by a werewolf to whom the nanny merely dismisses as a deer. Hmmm…sounds fishy no? Later on in the night the wife sees the same creature that attacked her husband at the window, to which her husband’s reply is “honey, I’m a lawyer…I believe in reality, I’m just going to go check it out”. Uh, hey dude, weren’t you almost ripped to shreds by the same creature about fifteen minutes ago? While hubby’s out searching the woods, the little lady is attacked and raped (off screen you sick bastards) by the werewolf, and since this is called “Children of the Full Moon”, I think old wolfie here has had his share of ass over the years. Yup, you guessed it, the old mansion is a sort of orphanage for lycanthropic brats, with papa wolf having his share of any young lass fool enough to stray into his territory. I’m sure if I were nine years old I would have loved this, but alas I’m not. It’s not horrible though, and not a bad waste of time as it only runs about sixty minutes. There is some nice atmosphere to it, and I even enjoyed the old school werewolf make-up for whatever reason. The version I watched was from the old Elvira hosted “Thriller Video” series, to which “Thriller” seemed to have acquired the rights to several episodes of the series for release on tape. The box itself is sorta rare and a collectible for all you Elvira nuts out there.
