The Mighty Peking Man (1976)
This one is your basic King Kong type story brought to you by the infamous Shaw Brothers. Story opens up during which an earthquake is shown ravaging a small pacific village. Out springs the Peking Man from the earth, ready to stomp people and destroy really phony looking miniature sets. Flash forward about ten years later, when some people get the idea of getting rich by catching the Peking Man and bringing him back to the mainland for show and tell. As our expedition tries to track the big guy down, they all get discouraged and decide to leave the groups sole believer, Johnny. Johnny wakes up all alone, except for the Peking Man who decides to chase him around a little bit. He is saved however, by a blond tarzan type chick who seems to be able to control the Peking Man. Seems the little lady has been raised by the Peking Man since her plane crashed into the jungle as child. She of course is clean and has shaved legs, lipstick and clean hair, but I guess that does not really matter, does it? Jack and the Tarzan chick fall in love, and Johnny persuades her to bring the Peking Man back to the mainland for all to see. You figure out the rest. This flick featured some simply hilarious acting, dialogue, and special effects. Loved the scenes of the Tarzan chick walking around the city in her Tarzan underwear, with no one even batting an eye as to what she is wearing. For some reason I was somewhat turned off by this film, perhaps if I saw this originally at the age of eight my opinion might have been different. Good for a watch if you are a fan of giant monster flicks, all others stay away....far away.
