Buried Alive (1979)

You know, love and death are a funny thing. Some people deal with the loss of a loved one just fine, while others just never seem to be able to cope. I guess you would place the character of Frank, in this epic sleazeathon from Joe D'Amato, in the second category. Actually, I think old Franky boy deserves his own category for this one. You see, poor Frank's girlfriend has just died and he is having an extremely hard time dealing with it. So, he does what any of us would do....he steals her body from the graveyard and brings the little lady home where she belongs. Director D'Amato (a.k.a. Aristide Massaccesi) serves up a pretty sick tale loaded with crude gore, a little cannibalism, bodies melting in acid and thrown in crematoriums, and other fun family fare of that ilk. Rumors have that real corpses were used during the filming of this one. I sort of doubt it, but it adds to the mystique I guess. There are hints of necrophilia, but the camera quicky cuts away, leaving you to wonder if it actually took place. The tape I viewed for this review was the old Thriller video version, so I'm not sure if anything was cut for this release or not. Ok movie, though I would say this is definetly for the euro-horror and sleaze crowd only. Nice soundtrack by The Goblins by the way.
