Flesh For Frankenstein (1974)

Interesting take on the old Frankenstein story, with Udo Kier playing a Baron intent on creating a male and female creature that will breed and thus give him a race of supermen to control the world. Having completed the female creature, all that's left to do now is find a virile and oversexed mind for the male creature, to make sure the breeding of the two is a success. The Baron and his assistant Otto decide that the best place to find this type of specimen would be of course at the local bordello, so the two wait outside for the unknowing donor to show up. Before I go any further, let's just say that the accents of the Baron and Otto in this film are simply hilarious, sort of a German type thing that just sounds over the top and well, sorta gay to. I nearly pissed myself when Otto asked the Baron if they could go into the bordello, to which the Baron replies "for what you filthy thing, to see those women's large breasts and such disgusting things" or something to that effect. Hilarious. Two men do eventually show up, a stud type who works on the Baron's farm, and his friend who is disinterested in sex (he's gay). Of course, the Baron decapitates the wrong guy, who makes for some poor monster sex later on, and the stud farmhand eventually figures what really is going on in that laboratory and tries to rescue his now undead friend. That's basically the story in a nutshell. The sleaze and campiness factor is in high effect here, as this one could be called sort of a soft-porn remaking of "Frankenstein". I suspect the version I viewed had a few cuts to it, but there still was tons of nudity and the like. The gore was also fairly explicit, with guts being thrown here and there with no abandon. I guess this was filmed in 3-D so there are some scenes where people's guts literally fall right into the camera, giving you (if you saw it in 3-D) that "guts in the lap" feeling. But besides the gore and sleaze, I think I enjoyed Udo Kier's over the top performance as our Baron, spitting out various lines and generally overdoing it the whole time, to great effect. If you're in the mood for something a little different and sleazy, track this one down.
