From the Goose Island website:

An aromatic blend of oats, chocolate and roast malts make up this classic English-Style Oatmeal Stout. A rich black over ruby hue and creamy tan head make our stout a memorable beer to behold.

You know, it's really not bad. Not bad at all. The majority of the beers that I've sampled from Goose Island have all been of the "it's good, but not spectacular' variety. The one beer by them that I was really floored by was their "Harvest Ale", the rest have all been very drinkable, but honestly, nothing "phenomenal". I'd say their Oatmeal Stout would fall in the latter category. It possesses a great coffee black appearance when poured, with a head that leaves pretty quickly. I was expecting maybe a bit of a thicker/fuller mouth feel, but this one is sorta carbonated and watery. You will notice some aroma of coffee and chocolate, though the aftertaste is more of your standard stout variety. The 5.10% alcohol content is slightly misleading, I drank three of these as a middle of the workweek treat (that would be Wednesday) and had a nice little warm glow going on. Still, it's a fairly enjoyable beer to sip on for a cold winter's night, I just wish there was a little more "thickness" to it, especially for an oatmeal stout. If you're curious, it's worth checking out. For a $1.33 each, you can't go wrong. Very good beer, but not "phenomenal".
