Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983)

Director: John Landis, Steven Spielberg, Joe Dante, Steven Miller

Pretty tame, yet still somewhat enjoyable anthology which deals with four separate segments which, I believe, are recreations of some of the old episodes from the t.v. series. First story tells the tale of a modern day racist who suddenly finds himself transported through time to Nazi Germany and then southern America in the 1920's to get a taste of his own medicine. Not bad, though nothing to grand either. Story two was done by Steven Spielberg, and is the tamest one of the film. I also thought it was the crappiest, so that's all I am saying about this one. Third segment concerns an 8 year old who can wish whatever he wants to come true to actually happen. Has the most f/x of the film, though some of it is not all that great. Last one is definitely the best, with John Lithgow playing a paranoid flyer on an airplane. Looking out his window, he spies a creature of sorts ripping up the planes engines on the outside. Of course, the rest of the plane's crew thinks he is just having a breakdown due to his fear of flying. Loved the part when the creature, with Lithgow hanging out the window, hops over to him and stares him down. Sorta freaky. Overall, like I said earlier, everything is pretty tame since this is PG territory. Spielberg's piece really should have been saved for "Amazing Stories", just way to tame for the big screen in my opinion. Could have benefited from lots more monsters and a bit of a harder edge, but it still is an ok timewaster.
